“Reconciliation 1” is the first in a series of four paintings. The idea was developed in 2009 but the series was completed last month. All four paintings will be unveiled in the upcoming exhibition at Levine Music, Washington DC., 27 September 2014. This is a sneak preview. My medium of choice is alkyd paints on masonite but venturing into new territory I decided to experiment with collage. Working with cut paper and ribbon forced me to use acrylic paint instead of my beloved alkyd oil paint. Mixing alkyd oil paints with paper might cause problems in the future. It was exciting and challenging. Although alkyds dry quickly overnight, acrylics dry instantly. I had to re-learn the medium to get the effect I wanted which was equally fun as it was frustrating. God willing I’ll be using collage again. Enjoy!!
