Featured Painting : A Gentalman's Game

A GENTLEMAN’S GAME
This was such a fun painting for me. I had a blast with the colors, which were vibrant and unusual. The composition is different and the painting is 3ft 1/8 in high—large for me. My goal this year God willing, is to produce larger works of art. I like playing with patterns and had a chance to throw in lines going in different directions. The painting was completed in July 2014 for the exhibition at Levine Music and is now in a Private Collection. You can see two of the sketches that were made for the painting above. Ballou Progress - Final Art

Last week 15 December the murals for Ballou were installed. Praise God! just in time for the ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday. The school is amazing —a wonderful environment for learning. In the these images above you can see details of the completed paintings and photos of them being scanned with a Cruse scanner. Both originals are approximately 4ft wide. With the digital images captured the next step in the process was to work with the vendor that would produce the wall murals.

Featured Artists - Leon Kennedy / Laura James

Since August my studio time has been dedicated to the Ballou Mural Project so I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to introduce you to the work of other artists I enjoy.

LEON KENNEDY
Leon Kennedy is an artist with no formal training who paints images from faith and life on found objects. What I enjoy most about his work is it’s strength, simplicity and expression of his faith. He’s considered an “Outsider Artist” — an untrained visionary with his own unique perspective. You can see his work and learn more about him on YouTube. here.

LAURA JAMES
Laura James’ work is beautiful! What I enjoy most about her work is her unusual pallette which is rich and atypical themes that are unique and thought provoking. Mrs. James is an illustrator and fine artist based in New York. Her illustration work has been commissioned and used as sacred religious art in the Catholic Church. Her secular paintings are widely exhibited and collected. You can check out her work on her website here and see for yourself!
